Before Selah, and now

Before

“I was experiencing things of spiritual warfare. I had no words for it. I couldn't understand why these things were happening to me.”

“I did not have emotional regulation before coming into Apostle's House. I didn't even know what emotional regulation was before I got here.”

“I was always worried about finances, always worried about what paycheck was going to go where.”

Now

“I went from having these emotional outbursts, these emotional breakdowns, to being able to just sit down, hold somebody's hand and just cry and share what's happening to me.”

“Loving myself, loving my body, loving who God has created me to be, and not condemning myself.”

“God is always going to provide and cover me no matter what.”

Mya's path through Selah

  1. Where she started

    Rooted in the AME Church

Mya's story begins in the African Methodist Episcopal Church, within the Philadelphia Conference. That is where she learned to read the Bible, to live it out, and to love and serve God. She sang in the choir. She stood on the praise team.

  2. May 2020

    Hearing God without a map

Mya rededicated her life to Christ. Almost immediately, she began hearing the voice of God more clearly than ever before. And she had no idea what to do with it.

  3. January 2021

    Discernment Accelerator

She began exploring the prophetic, deepening her understanding of her calling, and learning to make major decisions with God instead of alone.

  4. Summer 2022

    Clarity Blueprint

She gained language for her assignment in the education marketplace, and a freeing truth came with it. She did not have to choose between her passion for education and her call to ministry. She could carry both.

  5. After graduate school

    Alignment Accelerator

Through intentional discipleship, community, and a commitment to her health, Mya lost 80 pounds in one year.

  6. Living in community

    Apostle's House

This is where the healing God had spoken about became real.

“There's no better experience than just being in person and being with a community on a daily basis.”
  7. Now

    Kingdom Courtship Accelerator

She is growing in self awareness, healing, and discernment, and learning to walk this process with confidence, wisdom, and community around her.

  8. Today

    Director of Coaching

She does not lead from a distance. She leads as someone who has walked every step of the path she now guides others along.

Healing before doing

Mya assumed that saying yes to God meant going straight into ministry: serve, go, do. Instead, the Lord slowed her down. Again and again, He spoke the same word to her: your healing and your holistic well-being come first.

For a woman raised in a culture of service and performance, that word was hard. Lay down service. Lay down ministry. Lay down everything, and focus on you. It felt unfamiliar. At times it felt wrong.

She had been prepared for the promise, but not for the process.

In time, Mya came to see it as one of the most beautiful parts of her prophetic journey. Whatever God calls a woman to be, whether a wife, a mother, a pastor, an apostle, or a business owner, she has to be whole first.

Now she gets to tell students what she once needed to hear: everything is where it needs to be, they are where they need to be, and they can trust the process and the timing of the Lord for when He chooses to release them.

In her words

“I was like, well, Lord, what am I supposed to do? I brought this to Apostle Nicole.”

“Figure it out in family, figure it out in community, figure it out in love, and really take the pace of God.”

“There was a target on my life because of who God is calling me to be. I just didn't have the tools or the resources to understand how to respond.”

“We don't live in bondage, but we live in freedom.”

“I've seen many miracles in my own family just from my yes and my obedience.”

“Do not let any fear, any doubt or anything block you from this opportunity.”
